Which complete underfloor heating set do you need?
100 watts per m²
A heating mat of 100 watts per m² is primarily suitable for comfortable supplementary heating or for well-insulated rooms with limited heat demand. This version heats up more gradually and has a lower maximum connected load.
The 100-watt version can be an interesting option for a well-insulated living room, for example, or for floors that should not be heated too quickly or too intensely. If in doubt, always check if 100 watts is sufficient for your specific space.
150 watts per m²
A complete underfloor heating set of 150 watts per m² is the most versatile choice. This power output is widely used in bathrooms, kitchens, toilets, and living areas, offering a great balance between heating speed, comfort, and power consumption.
We recommend 150 watts per m² for most applications. Within this power range, you can choose from options such as the premium Pro-mat Pro-Series and the budget-friendly Pro-mat Red Series.
200 watts per m²
An underfloor heating set of 200 watts per m² is suitable when extra power or faster heating is required. This version can be ideal for a bathroom that needs to become comfortably warm quickly at specific times.
The maximum power consumption during heating is higher with 200 watts than with 150 watts per m². The thermostat will switch the system off as soon as the set temperature is reached. For larger surfaces, always check the total power and the maximum load capacity of the thermostat and the electrical circuit.

What is included in a complete underfloor heating set?
The exact contents may vary per model. A complete set typically consists of:

Sets are available with both a traditional thermostat and a smart WiFi thermostat. With a WiFi thermostat, you can control the underfloor heating via an app and set a weekly schedule.
Pro-mat Pro-Series: the premium choice
The Pro-mat Pro-Series is designed for customers seeking an extra-thin, high-quality heating mat. This mat is approximately 2–3 mm thick and features both internal insulation and an outer jacket made of fluoropolymer. Consequently, no PVC outer jacket is required around the heating cable.
The 150-watt-per-m² Pro-Series comes as a complete set with the smart Pro-mat PS60 WiFi thermostat and floor sensor. Due to its minimal thickness, this version is particularly suitable for renovations and situations with limited build-up height.
Pro-mat Red Series: reliable and affordable
The Pro-mat Red Series is our budget-friendly product line. This red heating mat is approximately 4 mm thick and features fluoropolymer internal insulation with a strong PVC outer jacket.
The Red Series is available in 150 and 200 watts per m². The 150-watt version is suitable for many general applications, while the 200-watt version provides extra power and can heat the floor faster under similar conditions.
Pro-mat or Magnum underfloor heating?
In addition to Pro-mat, our range also includes complete sets from Magnum. The Magnum Mat is a well-known heating mat with a thickness of approximately 4 mm. The Pro-mat Red Series has a similar thickness and cable structure, making it an interesting alternative when you want to compare different brands and prices.

Whether electric underfloor heating can be used as the primary heat source depends on factors such as insulation, available heated floor area, heat loss, and the desired power. If the heated floor area is insufficient, additional heating may be required.
Under tiles, self-leveling compound, or PVC
An electric heating mat can be installed directly into suitable flexible tile adhesive. For a PVC floor or other suitable floor finishes, the mat must first be fully and evenly embedded in self-leveling compound.
Always check if the final floor finish is suitable for electric underfloor heating. The heating cable must never be shortened, crossed, or damaged.
Use floor insulation for better efficiency
A suitable insulating base helps to limit downward heat loss. This allows the floor to react faster and ensures more heat is emitted into the room. Floor insulation is especially important over a cold concrete floor.
ProBoard XPS insulation boards are available in 6 and 10 mm thicknesses. The appropriate thickness depends on the subfloor, available build-up height, and final floor finish.
How do you calculate the right size?
Calculate only the free floor area where a heating mat can actually be laid. Subtract fixed elements such as the bathtub, shower tray, kitchen units, and furniture that lacks sufficient ventilation space from the total floor area.
Then, choose a heating mat that is slightly smaller than the available free floor area. The cable must not be shortened. The fiberglass mesh can be cut during installation to fold the mat, provided the heating cable remains intact.
Important installation tips
- Measure and record the resistance before, during, and after installation.
- Place the floor sensor in a separate conduit pipe.
- Embed the entire heating mat in tile adhesive or self-leveling compound.
- Check the total power and circuit load in advance.
- Have the electrical connection carried out according to applicable regulations.
- Keep photos and measurement values for warranty purposes.
