Electric underfloor heating under PVC: choose the right build-up
Glue-down PVC and click PVC require different floor build-ups. Check the instructions for your exact floor finish and heating system before ordering.
Glue-down PVC
A heating mat is fully embedded in suitable levelling compound. The surface must then be level, dry and suitable for bonding the PVC. Do not glue PVC directly onto a loose heating mat or our standard heating foil.
Click PVC
In a suitable floating foil system, the heating foil sits on its specified underlay. The remaining layers depend on the click PVC and the floor manufacturer’s requirements. Not every click floor is compatible with every foil or underlay. An embedded heating mat may be another suitable build-up.
Check before ordering
- Approval of the exact floor finish for electric underfloor heating.
- The permitted maximum floor temperature and thermal resistance.
- The required underlay, levelling compound, adhesive and any protective or intermediate layer.
- The free heated floor area and available build-up height.
Use a suitable thermostat with a floor sensor and set the temperature limits according to the floor and system instructions. Allow adhesives, compounds and flooring to cure before use. Special foil systems with intermediate boards require prior confirmation.
