Manual: Installing Foil Floor Heating
Follow these steps to correctly install your foil underfloor heating for optimal performance.
1. Plan and Design
- Determine which rooms you want to heat and where you place the thermostat.
- Check that you have the correct dimensions and specifications of the heating foil for each room.
2. Floor Preparation
- Clean the floor and make sure it is level and free from bumps.
- Remove old carpeting if necessary.
3. Lay Insulation Material
- Install a suitable insulation layer to limit heat loss downwards.
- For example, use an insulating subfloor or special insulation foil for underfloor heating.
4. Install the Heating Foil
- Roll out the heating foil according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Make sure the foil lies flat and does not overlap to prevent overheating.
5. Electrical Connection
- Connect the heating foil to the electricity grid according to the instructions.
- Have a qualified electrician make the connection because of the electrical wiring.
6. Test the System
- Test the operation of the heating before installing the floor covering.
- Check the resistance of the foil and measure the voltage with a multimeter according to the manufacturer's instructions.
7. Installing Floor Covering
- After a successful test, you can lay the floor covering (e.g. laminate, carpet, vinyl or tiles).
- Make sure that the floor covering is suitable for underfloor heating and follow the manufacturer's installation instructions.
Please note: In some cases it is necessary to use a heat-permeable underlay before installing the final floor covering.
Follow these steps carefully to ensure a properly functioning and efficient underfloor heating system.
