Guide: Measuring Electric Underfloor Heating
Follow these steps to correctly measure your electric underfloor heating using a multimeter:
Requirements
- Multimeter
- Electric underfloor heating (not yet connected to the thermostat or power supply)
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Check the connection
Make sure that the cables of the underfloor heating mat are not connected to the power supply or thermostat.
Step 2: Set up the multimeter
- Set the multimeter to the lowest OHM range (often 200 OHM-setting (Ω)).
Step 3: Make the connection
- Connect the cables of the multimeter to the following wires of the underfloor heating mat:
- Brown wire
- Blue wire
Step 4: Record the value
- Read the resistance displayed on the multimeter and record this value.
Important Notes
- The measured value must match the specifications provided in the manual of your underfloor heating system.
- Caution: If you measure 0 (zero), there is an issue. In that case, please contact us immediately!
- A deviating value may also indicate a problem with the cables.
Tip: Consult a specialist if in doubt!
